Jewelry Week Friday Finale

I am getting a little bored with my jewelry week. So today I am going to do a grand finale with several pictures. I want to wrap this up so I can show you some of my Easter Ceramics this weekend. I also feel the need to do some special jewelry pieces, not just the basic sets. Hmmm... what will I come up with?

Day 3 Jewelry Week

Today's jewelry set is fun and cheery. It is made of real turquoise chips with red and cobalt blue beads. I  used copper closures, earring findings and hooks on this. I think the copper goes really well with the colors, but silver would also look great. Recently, I have been using other colors for findings and find that the variety is very fun. Also, even when I use real sterling silver earring hooks, I get that black smudge on my ear by the end of the day. If you use the copper, antiqued gold, burnished silver, black or any of the other colored metals, I find that this does not happen. Yay! for that.

Peace and love,

Kelli

Day 2 Jewelry Week

This is the second day of my jewelry week. Today's set is an aqua and peach glass bead with seed bead 3 strand necklace. Again, nothing difficult to make. Using the Beadalon wire, I strung the seed beads and placed the glass beads evenly throughout. You can use a 3 prong closure or you can just attach each strand separately to a regular lobster claw closure. Sometimes, I like to give them a little twist before I attach them. The earrings are just a seed bead at the bottom 2 glass beads and a seed bead at the top.

Give it a try. Have a great day.

Jewelry Week

I am going to be showing off some of the jewelry sets I have made this week. These are basic sets that anyone can make with a little jewelry wire, earring findings, and some beads. Go out and get a basic book, a beading tool kit and you are set. This is a great hobby. I have jewelry to match EVERY outfit I have. No really, I do. I made this for St. Patrick's day and a little white and green striped shirt I have.

Ugly Microwave Cart to Pretty In Pink T.V. Stand

I bought this ugly microwave cart for 8 dollars on Craigslist.
I primed it. Using Kilz Primer

Spray painted it with Krylon Watermelon Gloss (my favorite pink spray paint). Two Coats
Since the top was not perfect, I decided to spruce it up a little. I added stainless steel sticky shelf paper to the top.
And here you have it. Ugly to pretty in pink. It matches my craft room beautifully. I love it.

Thanks for looking everyone. Have a great day.

Rainbow Slouch Hat

I finished the rainbow slouch hat that I was griping about the yarn..see older post. After I switched stitches it all went well. This yarn was just not stretchy enough to knit 3 together for the daisy stitch. As you can see I love rainbows, don't know why, but all the colors just make me happy.

Griping About This Yarn

I am currently knitting a hat with Noro Taiyo yarn. I have looked at it for a long time and the colors are beautiful. BUT the yarn is not stretchy at all. The hat called for the daisy stitch which is Knit 3 together, yarn over, Knit 3 together in same stitch. This broke my fingers and hurt my elbow. I am used to using cheaper yarn and it has much more stretch to it. I did several rows of this stitch and then gave up and switched to a Knit 2 together, Yarn over. This was much easier on the hands. Hopefully, it will still look nice. I will post when completed. Look at the yarn though, it is a yummy colorway.

Amazing Cowl

This is a very easy and quick knit cowl. I used Lion Brand Amazing yarn in Ruby. It took a little over one skein and the pattern can be found for free on the LionBrand website under Two-Stitch Cowl.
